Kel-tec 9 Mm - If you're looking for a good example of America's most popular Slimline 9 pistol, the Kel-Tec PF9 is a good place to start. This is one of the most affordable brands of weapons and a proven manufacturer. The Kel-Tec PF9 was one of the first ultra-light 9mm pistols.

The pistol has a polymer frame and a double action trigger only. The trigger is powerful yet smooth, firing at 6.5 lbs. This is not a hand shot, but the PF9 uses a hammer.

The unloaded weight is 12.5 ounces. The gun is 5.25 inches long and 0.9 inches wide. The PF9 is small but has an advantage in its seven-round magazine over the six-round magazines of other smaller 9mm pistols.

If you compare the pistol to the same manufacturer's 8.5 oz P3AT .380, which is also 5.2 inches in overall length, the PF9 offers a lot of benefits at a much smaller girth. The main difference is in power.

The 9mm Luger cartridge has been vastly improved by gun and projectile improvements, and the PF9 probably looks better today than when it was first introduced. The pistol is traditional for shotguns with a polymer frame. Grip treatment provides good abrasion and adhesion.

It is highly visible and the slide is small and easily portable. The double action trigger is quite smooth with a quick set up. The release port is large enough for administrative processing.

Running a DAO trigger is very different from editing a single action trigger. Moving forward and backward after reconfiguration requires precision. A shot is fired and the player is given time to prepare.

DAO Kel-Tec is smooth enough for good medium hits. The scopes are perfect and the gun is a real pocket gun. No hand protection DAO trigger is a security feature. Closed breech block is very common. Removal is not difficult.

PF9 is shown to work very well with various models. These include the 124gn Federal American Eagle FMJ, the 115gn Federal Synetch as training loads, and the 124gn XTP+P Hornady. The interesting Hornady 100gn Lite proved to be reliable.

The heavier bullet tested was the 147 grain Sig Sauer Elite V Crown. All charges are fed, loaded, fired and discharged without problems. Make sure that your hands do not slip on the slide of this gun. This is easy to do with the short 9mm action and is often the reason pistols of this size are ineffective.

Because I shot fast at 7 yards, the PF9 performed well. These groups were ideal for self-defense, no one deviated from the affected area. Equally, this gun is harder to control than heavy guns, which is to be expected. It can be difficult for inexperienced shooters to control. +P loads were not that hard to control in the PF9 with a firm grip on the pistol.

The magazine edition works well. Speedloads weren't hard to do with practice. After combat shooting exercises, it is good to take a few long shots, confirm the zeroing and check its correctness.

The DAO trigger is long but fluid and requires attention to detail. The Kel-Tec PF9 delivered reasonable results, with the single best group running 3 inches for five shots from a solid shooting position and an additional 4 inches at 15 yards.

The gun never malfunctioned and gave accurate readings. A true 9mm pocket pistol is well suited for personal defense, concealed carry and home defense. If you can afford a large and portable handgun, you should. But the PF9 is a good option for concealed carry.

Unofficial DOJ Announces New Rule to Fix Brakes and Devices Used to Convert Pistols to Latching Firearms January 13, 2023 The Kel-Tec PF-9 is a semi-automatic caliber 9mm recoil operated, locked bolt, double action only. The pistol is based on the early Kel-Tec P-11 and P-3AT models (and shares many common parts). Kel-Tec claims the PF-9 is the lightest and lightest 9mm pistol ever made. It was designed as a concealment and security tool for law enforcement and to keep people's secrets. Kel-Tec first announced the PF-9 on February 9, 2006, and the new pistol was released to the market in the fall of 2006.

The PF-9 is manufactured in Cocoa, Florida by Kel-Tec CNC Industries. With extensive use of numerical control (CNC) manufacturing methods, its six main components include the barrel, slide, frame, grip, trigger group, and magazine. The barrel is made of SAE/AISI 4140 steel, hardened to 48 RHC, the slide is made of the same steel. The trigger group is made from a single piece of machined 7075-T56 billet aluminum. The adapter bar system connects the hammer and trigger. The kit includes a striker lock that prevents accidental firing when the gun is dropped. The long double action trigger provides additional safety. The pistol has a bolt latch that moves to the rear position after the last round is fired. The frame is made from DuPont ST-8018 polymer and holds a 7-round steel single row magazine.

Features include a fixed front blade and an air-adjustable serrated rear blade. Three white dots indicate sights for better visibility in low light conditions, and the weapon has a rail for mounting flashlights and lasers.

The PF-9 uses many of the parts developed for the Kel-Tec P-11 and P-3AT models and is a compromise between the two pistols. Based on the P-11, the PF-9 uses slightly modified stock, trigger, ejector and front sight. P-3AT parts used in the PF-9 include an extractor and various springs. The handle is available in a variety of colors and the slide is available in blued, parkerized, ceramic (Cerakote), and hard chrome finishes. The PF-9 comes with an extended magazine floor, a multi-purpose rear sight adjustment key, and an owner's manual.
