Kel-tec 22 Magnum - I recently got to hold and shoot one of Kel Tec's newest pistols, the CMR 30. I am impressed with the performance and performance of this .22 Magnum pistol. This gun is probably a fun spring gun, but it also has amazing performance and will work well for sports as well as personal defense.

The CMR 30 action is a straight blowback with a fixed barrel. A light gun of only four pounds. It is easy to hold and carry. With a loaded .30 round of .22 Magnum, the gun weighs four pounds and five ounces.

CMR 30 has a combination of steel, aluminum and polymer construction. The upper receiver is aluminum. This part includes a 14-inch sight rail. There is a 7 inch bottom rail. I have installed several tools including a LaserMax Spartan laser with excellent results. The barrel has a standard carbine length of 16 inches with a threaded muzzle. The use of suppressors is also popular

The stock has two aluminum support arms that allow for better adjustment while attached to the forged plate. Stock releases are accurate and easy to handle. With the stock closed, the gun is less than 23 inches. This makes the PMR 30 a compact and easy to store truck gun for active use. The device allows the length of the stroke to be changed so that the gun can be used even by tall and young people.

The gun slides easily into the Tactical Walls tactical safe. The PMR 30 is a great family shooter and wouldn't be a bad squirrel or rabbit gun at all. The gun has a two-handed safety. There is a separate screw release. The gun is designed to handle a single point. The trigger is good, clean, and allows excellent control and accuracy. According to RCBS trigger gauge registration, the Kel Tec PMR 30 trigger breaks at a good 3 pounds, 6 ounces. The magazine is identical to the PMR 30 pistol. The magazine release is a heel type, which increases safety .

The ammo selection for the .22 Magnum was narrowed down to what I could find because the .22 Magnum is scarce in my town and only one of a dozen stores in my area had have ammo in stock. I was able to find some large grain CCI 40 ammo to supplement the four or five year old box I had. I was able to get hold of the Hornady 30-grain A Max and the Hornady 45-grain Critical Defense for review. Let's face it, the gun is not optional. All ball sizes are fed, chambered, fired and ejected normally. I oiled the gun well and started with the oldest gun.

The first time, I was only able to find 18 issues in the magazine and there were negative reviews. I had ten inches in magazines. I learned to insert the magazine with the nose of the cartridge all the way into the magazine and tap the magazine after loading every five rounds. After the first error, I browsed without a problem. A fun gun to shoot and use. The metal objects were no problem to see at 25 yards. I continued to shoot the dirt on the berm, sticks like sticks and old plastic soda bottles. The gun hits easily and moves quickly. Faster follow-up shots are easier due to lower lag and faster resets. The gun is open with the last shot and a quick change of magazines is possible with practice. The shape of the stock and grip is simple.

The firearms work is interesting. The CCI Maxi Mag is advertised at 1875 fps, probably from a 24-inch sporting rifle. Recent loads hit just over 1900 fps from a 16-inch Kel Tec barrel. Older Maxi Mags hit 1780fps.

This is not an unusual difference between things. Hornady's Varmint penetrating 30-grain A Max load reached 2120 fps. Hornady's 45-grain Critical Defense load, intended for use in personal defense ammunition, tops out at 1690 fps. They all got along well with rapid fire and showed eye-to-eye accuracy at 25 meters. The rescue operations of the hostages in the center of gravity were carried out at a real speed and accuracy. I only had one magazine and it takes more time to load a thirty round magazine than to fire a gun. I was able to shoot 180 rounds with no malfunctions. There was a normal amount of unburnt powder ash.

When you got hold of the speed gun, the controls were nice and easy to control. The stock release is ahead of the launch. The device locks tightly without slipping. It is very hard when it is locked. The stop and safety is easy to handle. I found myself preferring the push as a non-existent magazine release due to long familiarity with the Browning style magazine release, but the heel style magazine release is fine when you used to using its hands. It is safe and the magazine will not be lost or misplaced. The gun is well balanced. Sometimes I held the fore-end and sometimes I held the gun with both hands.

That's really good for a light gun, but the action is stiff and the glass was good. The Kel Tec pistol is as accurate as a standard .22 Magnum pistol. The gun is light, reliable, efficient, and versatile in the scheme of things. For hiking and as a rifle if the whole family uses it, the rifle is a winner.

A solid bench shot at 25 yards was less than an inch for five shots for several groups. I was also able to shoot the rifle at 50 yards. I installed a Tru Glo tactical scope to test the rifle at 50 yards. This scope is best suited for a .223 rifle, but it was which I had and it worked well for this application. I shot several groups at 50 yards, shooting three groups for each group. The results are as follows:

The advantage of this rifle over the .22 Long Rifle is that the .22 Magnum uses a jacketed bullet. This contributes to a cleaner shot and a greater impact on the game. Some say the .22 Magnum is the effective cartridge for the mountain lion pack. I prefer the cassette for bobcats and raccoons. As a personal defense for those who can't handle heavy duty, the .22 Magnum is in a class by itself. Shoot straight and the cartridge has enough penetration to get the job done.

Women & Guns is the world's first gun publication for women. Providing the latest news, reviews, legal information and training information for shooting enthusiasts since 1989. I used to work at a gun store that catered to an elderly clientele. Retirees were our #1 source and often wanted a handgun for self defense. We would start with something like a Glock 19 or something similar, but the slide control would be too much for most old hands. Then we were going to switch to revolvers, but the 10+ pound trigger pull on those guns was too much. That's when I passed them to look at the KelTec PMR-30.

Don't get me wrong, the PMR-30 is a great little pistol for anyone. It's light (very light), has great recoil, is fun to shoot, doesn't really break down, and holds a whopping 30 rounds per magazine. What's not to like about such a weapon? All of these features make the Kel-Tec PMR-30 a great defense rifle for people who can't handle other conventional handguns. Plus, of all the guns I've ever shot, it's probably my favorite gun. I will explain why.

Kel Tec Cmr 30: A Poor Man's Mp7

The PMR-30 is a great example of Kel-Tec's new approach to handling firearms. A very light gun. Weighs less than a pound, just 14 ounces. In fact, a fully loaded PMR-30 with an extra 30 round magazine weighs about the same as a Glock 19. One of the reasons for this light weight is that the weapon uses a lot of -polymers, including slide parts. . The trigger is also light, breaking just 3.5 pounds in our tests.

Getting a rimmed cartridge like the .22 Magnum to work in a magazine loaded semi-auto pistol can be a challenge. The top of each cartridge can become attached to itself, causing misfeeds. The PMR30 solves this problem by building a guide rail into the magazine that allows the cartridges to be properly stored inside. When we talk about those cloths, although it is true that they can hold 30 rounds, putting them in is a challenge. A spring that powers each wheel
